Over the weeks and updates, does Windows 11 finally manage to seduce PC gamers?
This week, particularly rich in news, was the occasion for Windows 11 to welcome the Moment 2 update. While the OS continues to impose itself on the general public, is it the same for the players pc?
Windows 11 is progressing with PC gamers…
Last month, we discovered that Windows 10 was still the favorite operating system for gamers on Steam. Each month, Valve surveys its community to determine the software and hardware preferences of its players. During the survey conducted in January, we were then able to observe that 63.46% of those surveyed were playing their games on machines running Windows 10. Only 30.33% of them had then answered using Windows 11, the OS having also encountered undeniable difficulties in terms of adoption since its launch.
If the switch between Windows 10 and Windows 11 is relatively slow, in addition to being laborious, it is clear that, month after month, the trend is gradually beginning to reverse. With February now behind us, we can now discover the results of the new survey. And good news for Windows 11: on Steam, the operating system continues to gradually mark its territory!
… but there is still a long way to go!
Clearly, a single month won’t be enough for Windows 11 to suddenly steal the show from its big brother. Indeed, the latter remains the undisputed leader among PC gamers, which then collected 62.33% of the votes from those questioned in February 2023. However, between the months of January and February, Windows 11 seems to have conquered more of hearts, gaining no less than 1.73 points. In total, no less than 32.06% of Steam players surveyed responded that they preferred Windows 11. A record figure since its launch in October 2021.
In addition to time, it will undoubtedly take a lot of effort from Windows 11 to get ahead of its elder. However, with many features rolling out, as well as compatibility extending to more devices, it’s a safe bet that by the end of the year the numbers will show results a little less disparate between the two operating systems. One thing is certain, almost eight years after its launch, Windows 10 still continues to be unanimous among PC gamers, and Windows customers in general.
