Bugs fixed over the months and a possible return of drag and drop.
Major axis of navigation within the operating system, the taskbar of Windows 11 is necessarily perfect. Beyond the bugs, conceivable at the launch of a new OS, it is above all the removal of certain functionalities that challenged, in particular the intuitive drag & drop, or drag and drop in good French, mysteriously absent from this version of Windows. Microsoft would however consider reinstating this function … in a few months.
Correct before adding
To design the Windows 11 taskbar, the dashboard through which the majority of users control their PCs, Microsoft developers started with a blank slate: they created a brand new taskbar based on code. XAML. The other side of the coin, like any new creation, comes with its train of bugs and involves sometimes questionable choices.
Fortunately, concerning the first, Microsoft teams strive to correct them over the weeks. Last November, for example, they rectified the problem of badly positioned tooltips.
More recently, it is a bug affecting the battery level indicator which was erased with the build 22523. Concretely, the computers of some users sometimes displayed exuberant percentages of charge, higher than 100%. Unfortunately for the autonomy of our dear PCs, if the deterioration of the capacity of a battery over time is a common phenomenon, the subscription only concerns, in the current state of our technologies, only – good – wines .
On this subject, Microsoft wrote in a post: “ Battery icon tooltip should no longer inappropriately display a percentage greater than 100% “.
Drag and drop back next fall?
Regarding drag and drop, its return has been the subject of rumors for several weeks. As usual, Microsoft would first reintroduce this feature in a build preview before eventually generalizing it.
However, if you are not a Windows Insider member, do not rejoice too quickly: after the experimentation phase, the hypothetical propagation to all Windows 11 PCs would only take place when Windows 11 22H2 is launched, i.e. next fall. In short, in the meantime, we will have to deal with the current system.

To be completely honest, Windows 11 appears to us to be a good evolution of Windows 10. Beyond the very marketing aspect linked to the surprise effect (Windows 10 was presented as the last one, remember) and to the essentially graphic redesign of the interface, the update brings a little welcome clarity and modernity after six years spent with an OS designed to reconcile Microsoft and its public. We also like the discreet details that make it more functional, such as the improved snap and anchor groups, or even the refined management of virtual desktops. Finally, we are really convinced by the redesign of the Microsoft Store. By agreeing to return to the exclusivity reserved for UWP, Microsoft effectively hits where we do not expect it and is finally forced to catch up on Apple and Google.
