Anyone who thought that new releases would no longer surprise us in 2021 is mistaken. Oppo surprised everyone last Wednesday by announcing the Find N, the company’s new foldable smartphone. The positive reactions to the foldable made Oppo the winner of the week!
What did not go so well, however, is the hodgepodge of errors in the Android 12 updates. Google, Samsung and OnePlus all got the bitter aftertaste of faulty updates.
But before we get to the winners and losers of the last seven days, here are some of the most important NextPit headlines from the past week:
Winner of the week: Oppo Find N
After six prototypes, Oppo finally presented its first foldable smartphone this week. The Find N can be placed between the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and the Galaxy Z Flip 3 and thus becomes a kind of iPhone 13 mini with a flexible screen. When it comes to specs, the Snapdragon 888 and the camera we know from the Oppo Find X3 Pro stand out.
We haven’t had a chance to get our hands on the device yet, but first impressions of the device are online and they couldn’t be better. Marques Brownlee says: “The Oppo Find N could be the best foldable phone on planet earth right now, at least in terms of form factor.”
Android Authority’s Robert Triggs points out, “The Oppo Find N is incredibly stylish for a smartphone, especially a foldable one,” while The Verge’s Sam Byford says, “Oppo has a winner !!
With excellent specifications and an original form factor, the Oppo Find N is launched to raise the bar for the foldable product class in 2022. With this, the manufacturer closes the year as one of Samsung’s biggest competitors in the industry and gives us hope for the next generation of foldable cell phones. Thank you Oppo!
Loser of the week: faulty Android 12 updates
In the race to release operating system updates for their flagships, Samsung, OnePlus and Google give examples that rush is really the enemy of perfection.
In the past few days, Samsung has released the One UI 4.0 update for the Galaxy Z Flip 3, canceled and released it again. OnePlus had the same problems with a faulty OxygenOS 12 update for the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro. And Google has not been spared either.

After the December security update for the Pixel smartphones was released, the newly released Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro experienced a delay in shipping the patch package. In addition, after receiving the update earlier this week, many users complain that the devices have become even more unstable.
It also draws attention to the inconsistency in the latest update package sent to the Pixel by Google. It should contain bug fixes and the December security patch, but it has one problem: The updates are apparently delivered quite randomly. For example, I have three Pixel models at home, and each of them is running a different software update.
While the Pixel 3 is running the October security patch, the Pixel 5 is on the December patch – and amazingly, the Pixel 6 Pro is still stuck with the November 2021 update. My colleague Ben’s Pixel 6, on the other hand, was updated this week and runs on the latest and most secure version of Android 12.
Because of this mishmash of bugs, Android 12 updates deserve the loser of the week spot in today’s column!
