“Winter will be difficult again”
Helge Braun considers 2G to be a “logical increase”
Chancellery Minister Braun is preparing for another Corona winter. In the ntv interview, he advocates using strict 2G rules to ensure that the healthcare system is not overloaded. He rules out a nationwide lockdown for unvaccinated people.
Head of the Chancellery, Helge Braun, looks to the winter with concern and can therefore imagine stricter rules. “The 3G model got us through the fall well. We had stable numbers, but now we are seeing: the numbers are rising again. That means additional measures are required. And there 2G is the logical step up to prevent it there is overload in the hospitals in some regions, “said Braun in an interview with ntv. Corresponding measures for the winter are currently being worked on in many federal states. It is important that this is legally possible.
However, Braun rules out a nationwide 2G regulation as a de facto lockdown for unvaccinated people: “It has to be possible in principle as a model, but we have always decided to act regionally. We have big differences when it comes to the vaccination quota. Bremen very far ahead, other federal states further back and accordingly, different regional actions will always have to be taken, “said Braun. And further: “But where the numbers are so high, it is a signal that we have to reckon with a strain on the health system in the next few weeks, but also with an increase in the number of deaths again. And we should definitely avoid that. ”
Even if the pandemic is now to be fought regionally, Braun brings a coordination meeting between the federal and state governments to the table: “And of course the Chancellor has also offered, if there is a desire to discuss things again between the states, a conference of prime ministers is possible at any time. ” But that must come from the countries.
Before winter, those who had not been vaccinated would be in the same situation as the entire population was in the previous year. “But those who remain unvaccinated are of course still in the pandemic like last year. For them, the situation has not improved, but rather worsened because of the high risk of infection from Delta. Unvaccinated people must therefore continue to expect that there are restrictions, especially this winter, “says Braun.
Braun was also generally in the mood for a difficult winter. “Everyone has to be careful in their personal environment. We had a good and relaxed summer. And this winter will be difficult again.” You have to tell people that clearly.
