A patient attacked and injured a paramedic in an ambulance in Winterthur on Friday night. He also caused damage of more than 50,000 francs. The man fled, but was caught shortly thereafter and arrested after receiving medical treatment.
The rescue team wanted to bring the man to the emergency department of the cantonal hospital, as the Winterthur city police announced. Shortly before arrival, the 38-year-old rejected asylum seeker from Iran attacked the paramedic. He also damaged the ambulance and medical equipment before running away.
The man now has to answer for violence and threats against authorities, bodily harm, property damage and violations of the immigration legislation. (SDA/oco)
