With electricity and a blessing – the new popemobile comes from Magna Steyr in Graz

Pope Francis receives an electric popemobile from Graz. The Holy Father received the entrepreneur Henrik Fisker, the founder of the Californian car maker of the same name, in the Vatican, where he presented his designs for a new popemobile.

The car is said to be based on the Ocean electric SUV, which is being built in Graz. Fisker Inc. announced that the special version of the first fully electric popemobile would be delivered to the Holy See at the end of 2022.

The papamobile is a secured vehicle with large windows. It is being developed by various manufacturers especially for popes so that they can take a bath in the crowd comfortably and safely.

Last August, Magna Steyr in Graz signed a preliminary contract with Fisker Inc. for the production of an electric luxury SUV (“Fisker Ocean”). The vehicle is to be built with numerous sustainable materials and cost less than 40,000 euros.

The e-car with the “green” label should be “vegan” – without animal leather, the plastic comes from recycled plastics from the oceans, hence the name. Photovoltaic cells on the roof should also charge the battery. The range of the car is almost 500 kilometers.
