MONTY PYTHON, SACRED GRAIL BECOMES SPAMALOT IN THE THEATER!
Created in 2005 on Broadway by Eric Idle – one of the members of Monty Python – in collaboration with John du Prez for the music, Spamalot arrived for the first time in France in 2010, then in 2013, already under the direction of PEF .
10 years after its Parisian success, this rereading of the cinema classic released in 1975 makes its return with its share of killer rabbits, flatulent French fools and existential questions (“Can swallows carry coconuts?”) which will delight all Monty Python fans.
Having as main themes the legend of Arthur, the Knights of the Round Table and the quest for the Grail, the film is a model of the genre, was placed in 5th position in the ranking of the 100 best comedy films published by Time Out London – between others – and is often cited on television, in the cinema, or more generally in popular culture. As proof, Alexandre Astier has always affirmed that Monty Python: Sacred Grail! was his bedside film to create the Kaamelott series.
