Wolfgang Leitner – From poor working-class boy to silent billionaire


The “smart Bua” was allowed to study
The father was a fitter at the engineering company Andritz; honest work for 30 years for an income that was just enough to provide for the small family. Expensive vacations, fast cars – none of them. Sending the sons to high school and later studying was like a financial feat. And yet the parents succeeded in sending the “very smart boys”, as the teachers judged, to the university. Wolfgang Leitner studied chemistry at the University of Graz, where he received his doctorate in 1978 “sub auspiciis praesidentis”.
