Woman dismembered at the Buttes-Chaumont: wrongful accusation, inconsistencies and traces of blood… the investigation is slipping

For more than a week, investigators have been trying to figure out who dismembered the body of Assia, 46. But the investigation is struggling to take off.

It is a macabre discovery that was made in two stages. A week ago, city of Paris green space maintenance workers discovered parts of a dismembered body in the Buttes-Chaumont garden. The next day, other members are found. An investigation for assassination, violation of the integrity of a corpse and concealment of a corpse is open. Following the autopsy, the identity of this found woman’s body is revealed: it is Assia, 46 years old, a seemingly uneventful mother. But many gray areas still need to be clarified.

Indeed, the investigation is struggling to take off. Her husband had indeed warned the police of the disappearance of his wife, many days after finding that she had not returned home. “I stayed at home to take care of the children, because there was no school that day (due to the strikes). They all go to school in Paris. My wife used to use a taxi app to come home late, which she didn’t do that night,” he recalls. But now, according to the first elements of the investigation, the husband issued numerous inconsistent statements. He claims to have called his wife hundreds of times to find out where she was. Which is actually completely false. Investigators then searched the family home.

Traces of blood found and a homeless man arrested

Slight traces of blood were discovered near the bathroom and the kitchen. But the quantity is too negligible. Investigators concluded it was a domestic accident. If the track of the involvement of the husband is studied, others are also in the crosshairs of the investigators. Indeed, Friday, February 17, a homeless man was arrested. Placed in a drunk tank, he was interrogated before being released.
