At some point you get through the trends and want to focus on quantity and quality instead of abundance: especially when it comes to shoes. In fact, there are only six pairs you need in your closet.

Follow fast trends? There comes a time when you know: That’s no use. For some, this happens after several bad purchases and countless wardrobe corpses, while others still like to try out emerging trends again. By the time you’re 40, you’ve usually already seen every trend or even tried it out, and maybe your shoes are already piling up in the closet. You finally really know what you like and what you value! Time to clear out and make space. Because, let’s be honest: you actually only need six models.

1. Classic pumps

An extra pair of fine shoes for the office? A couple for the evening? Papperlapapp! We definitely only need one pair that is equally impressive as an all-rounder for every occasion. The answer is as simple as it is simple: we need pumps. A little Heel meets an elegant cut. Yes, classic pumps are versatile and can be worn for formal occasions, to the office, cafe or even to a romantic dinner. In muted colors and made from high-quality materials, they are long-lasting and reliable companions in any wardrobe.

2. Simple sneakers

If you like something sporty in your everyday life, it’s best to choose a sneaker that is fashionable but not out of line. Do we really need red or orange shoes? How can we combine them? Certainly only with this one outfit that we rarely wear. When it comes to sneakers, it’s best to use simple colors like white or black. Comfort also pays off: cushioning and suspension increase wearing comfort, and a well-padded collar and tongue minimize pressure and friction.

3. Dark ankle boots

In autumn they can be styled in many ways and they look high-quality and elegant: ankle boots. They really never go out of trend and are really comfortable, especially without a small heel. Combined with jeans, skirts or dresses, the big question becomes: What should I wear today? Superfluous – at least if it’s because of the footwear. Important: When buying shoes you should not go for trends. Western or biker boots, for example, have a very modern design that could end up in the depths of your shoe closet again next season. Instead, it’s best to invest in shoes with a round or pointed front that are made of high-quality (synthetic) leather.

4. Magical ballerinas

Its slim design and thin sole make the ballerina a light-footed shoe. Although they are often associated with spring and summer, they are also a nice, unusual choice in autumn with thick knit socks. Of course, whatever you like is allowed here. When choosing a model, it is best to responsibly not choose the modern version with heels and straps, as can currently be seen in the MiuMiu collection. Round cap, a bow: the classic will definitely be a beautiful companion for you for years to come.

5. Summer espadrilles

They are probably one of the most comfortable and summery holiday travel shoes: the espadrilles. Traditionally, the lightweight shoes are made from a combination of linen or cotton fabrics for the upper. The sole is made of woven jute or hemp. If you want to aim high, you can choose the model with a wedge heel – thanks to the ribbon on the ankle, this is at least as comfortable as the flat version. And: This makes every summer evening look an eye-catcher.

6. Light sandals

In spring and summer there is nothing better than a small, refreshing breeze! Our feet also know this, as they are reluctant to move around in sneakers. Sandals are the perfect low shoes that impress above all with their comfortable fit. Especially when adjustable straps are involved! Tip: Breathable materials such as leather, cotton or linen promote air circulation and reduce the likelihood of sweating.
