Success of the plasma application for the recovery of hazardous aluminum waste
The Europlasma group, expert in pollution control solutions, announces the success of the test campaign for the treatment and recovery of aluminum slag, conducted on its pilot furnace equipped with a plasma torch, developed in its R&D center in China. Europlasma has thus demonstrated the possibility of transforming, with its innovative process, ultimate aluminum waste, whose toxicity is proven, into a high-value and harmless raw material.
The tests carried out in partnership with Hangzhou Dianzi University have made it possible to prove, on a pre-industrial scale, the relevance of this new process, which makes it possible to remove the dangerous elements (nitrides, chlorinated and fluorinated compounds) from said waste to recover an alumina from it. purity greater than 70%. In other words, this material resulting from the recycling of aluminum dross, can be used in total or partial substitution of virgin raw materials, in particular in refractory materials or as an additive in many applications.
