The 76th Cannes Film Festival is approaching. The Indiana Jones 5 film crew will climb the steps for a world premiere. Harrison Ford will be honored during this edition.
In 2022, the public was able to come applaud Tom Cruise and the entire Top Gun Maverick team on the steps of Cannes. This year, another long-awaited blockbuster will make its grand premiere on the Croisette. Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, 5th installment in the saga will be screened for the first time on the occasion of the 76th Cannes Film Festival. And this as part of an “exceptional tribute” which will be paid to Harrison Ford, the main actor in the adventure saga.
This year, the Cannes festival takes place from May 16 to 28 on the Croisette, and it will be chaired by Swedish director Ruben Östlund. Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny will therefore be screened on May 18 next, two days after the start of the event. Harrison Ford, now 80 years old, director James Mangold, actress Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Antonio Banderas who will be back in Cannes or even Madds Mikkelsen will all be present side by side on this occasion on the red carpet. It is not yet known whether a surprise will be reserved for the film crew. As a reminder, last year, the Patrouille de France flew over the Palais des Festivals when climbing the steps of Tom Cruise, Jennifer Connelly and actors from Top Gun 2. Tom Cruise had also received an honorary Palme d’Or.

Harrison Ford honored at Cannes
Despite his many box office and critical successes, Harrison Ford has never received any official awards for his roles, such as a BAFTA, Oscar or Golden Globe. However, he received the honorary Cecil B. DeMille Award at the Golden Globes in 2002 and an honorary Cesar in 2010. The festival wishes this year pay tribute to Harrison Ford and his nearly 50-year career. The actor is indeed one of the headliners of many sagas and cult films: Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Blade Runner, The Fugitive, Presumed Innocent, or even Apocalypse Now.
