Wounded pride? – Kerschbaum critic vied for Brucknerhaus job

After the Kerschbaum revelations in “Falter”, the outrage among the Linz NEOS city party leader Georg Redlhammer was immense. Since then, he has been upset about the scandal in the Brucknerhaus almost every day. Where – as has now become clear – he would have liked to work himself, but did not get the board position he wanted. Crooked optics? Not at all for him.

First of all: The following story changes absolutely nothing about the Kerschbaum case and the accusations made, it just seems in a certain way another extremely sleazy act in the Linz cultural tragedy. Review: When the “Falter” reported serious allegations against LIVA on Tuesday evening last week -Chief Dietmar Kerschbaum reported that a Linz city politician became unusually loud for the first time. Shortly after the article was published, NEOS boss Georg Redlhammer called for the immediate dismissal of the artistic director. NEOS boss “shot” sharply from the start, and in the days that followed he also issued unusually pointed press releases in which he also criticized the entire Linzer pilloried the city government when he said: “I was a silent voice in the desert and couldn’t stand up to the concentrated power of the proportional government.” Or on social media he ennobled the “Falter” editor with the following words: “With her ‘ I unexpectedly found a comrade-in-arms against the artistic director’s alleged self-dealing and waste of money in the Brucknerhaus in Linz. I almost wanted to give up.” All circumstances that seem extremely strange, especially to town hall insiders, because when the critical control office report became public last summer, Redlhammer, as chairman of the control committee, had shown no signs of indignation. “Yes, I applied.” But his outrage now appears in a slightly different light to outsiders. Because now it became known that the NEOS city party leader himself had applied for the job of commercial director. But without success. He is said to have even asked Dietmar Kerschbaum for an appointment before his hearing, also without success. Confronted with this by the “Krone”, Georg Redlhammer reacted calmly after the local council meeting: “I never made a secret of my application, I wanted to make a statement . But since I’m not going to hire the person who got the job, I don’t see any bad optics. He is now the big winner and I’m happy about that.” He vehemently denies that he had asked for an appointment before his hearing: “That’s a lie. I didn’t need Mr. Kerschbaum, I knew the inspection office report.”
