WWDC 2022 – iOS 16 simplifies entering and managing messages

Apple detailed at WWDC 2022 the functions specific to iOS 16, the new version of the operating system dedicated to its iPhones. The Cupertino Mammoth emphasizes message entry and management.

Apple detailed during its WWDC dedicated to developers the functionalities of its iOS 16 mobile operating system. In beta phase now, the latter is full of options intended to facilitate the entry and exchange of messages.

Apple thinks of clumsy people who send their messages a little too quickly. The apple has thus announced the possibility of editing messages just sent in iMessage in order to correct any typos, but also that of deleting messages sent too quickly. However, it will not be necessary to drag: only 15 min will be allocated to the user to change his mind. It will also be possible to restore a message within 30 days of its deletion.

The Messages app benefits from various innovations, including the possibility of using the SharePlay function which allows you to chat by interposed messages while watching a movie with your interlocutor, all on the same screen – an option previously reserved for FaceTime . Messages also gains a function borrowed from the Mac Mail application, the ability to mark conversation threads as unread. Mail also benefits from some new options, such as the possibility of canceling the sending of a message or of receiving reminders if emails have not been answered.

Voice input in the spotlight

Apple also promises improved voice input, especially when used to send messages and emails. This function, used 18 billion times per month according to the Californian firm, will coexist with keyboard input in iOS 16. It will therefore be possible to alternate between input and voice dictation in the same message. The automatic addition of punctuation will also enrich the latter.
