Xiaomi has made plenty of announcements. In addition to the highly anticipated Xiaomi 13, there is a folding smartphone, headphones, a watch, a speaker, a router and a mini PC.
Yesterday a Xiaomi conference was held in China. As usual, the Chinese group did not announce a product… but a slew of novelties in various categories. We suspect that you had other things to do on your Sunday, so here is a summary of the main announcements.
Xiaomi 13
The Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro are arguably the most important announcement. We have published a full article on its smartphones. However, if you don’t want to click on the link, what you have to remember is: a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 with LPDDR5X RAM, UFS 4.0 storage, but also the Sony IMX800 1/1.49 sensor ″ (from the Honor 70) with neat optics by Leica.
These Xiaomi also use a Samsung E6 OLED screen capable of rising to a brightness of 1,800 nits (in HDR). Moreover, a fundamental difference between the Xiaomi 13 and the Xiaomi 13 Pro lies in the design of the screen: the compact model opts for flat edges while the Xiaomi 13 Pro has curved edges.
On the autonomy side, the battery capacity is 4,500 mAh for the Xiaomi 13 with a charging power of up to 67 W, while the 4,820 mAh battery of the Xiaomi 13 Pro can absorb up to 120 W. Note also the wireless charging at 50 W, proprietary, and 10 W via Qi technology.
Finally, there are also exclusive colors that are… very lively!
Xiaomi Mix Fold 2
Xiaomi’s folding Mix Fold 2 was also discussed. You’d like to know why ? Tesla Model Y style, Xiaomi has introduced two new colors.
These are the Moonlight Silver and Basalt Black Limited Editions… for over $2,000.
The Xiaomi mini PC, the Mini Host
Xiaomi has formalized its Mac Mini, or rather its version of Intel’s NUCs. Xiaomi’s mini PC does not only take up the design of the NUC. Initially, it was thought to ship AMD Ryzen 6000 chips including the Ryzen 7 6800H, but eventually it was announced with an Intel Core i5-1240P chip. It even has an additional M.2 slot to expand SSD storage, for example.
A compact and inexpensive format, this makes it possible to obtain a practical workstation. We doubt to see it land in France, but we can certainly import it easily.
MIUI 14
Before unveiling its Xiaomi 13, the Chinese giant presented its new interface, MIUI 14 (Android 13). It offers a serious performance boost as well as some interesting new features for the home screen. We especially remembered the choice of the cute corgi. The interface will be available in 2023 on most Xiaomi smartphones.
Xiaomi Watch S2
Inspired by the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5, the new Watch S2 Comes in two sizes, it’s packed with sensors to measure heart rate and SpO2. It also features a built-in microphone and speaker for Bluetooth call functionality.
Xiaomi Buds 4
There were also the Buds 4, semi-in-ear headphones. On paper, it’s very complete: Bluetooth with LHDC codec (5.0 or LHDC V). Xiaomi notes that this codec would be able to provide CD quality with a sampling rate of up to 192 kHz.
The Buds 4 also offer a sound of ” HiFi quality” thanks to their 11 mm speakers, accompanied by a graphene diaphragm and a system “dual magnetfor bass. They have noise reduction and are advertised with 30 hours of battery life (thanks to the case).
Xiaomi Sound Pro
The Xiaomi Sound Pro is a wireless speaker designed to deliver high quality sound. This Pro version includes asubwoofera passive radiator and a main loudspeaker, the last two of which consist of three “units” each.
We will also remember the LED lighting system, which moves according to the music we are listening to. In terms of compatibility, the Sound Pro is compatible with Apple AirPlay 2, it also includes NFC to facilitate pairing with a smartphone. There’s also the Harman AudioEFX badge, but that’s not worth much…it’s a certification given to a lot of products including laptops.
Count 150 euros, approximately, we do not yet know if Xiaomi intends to sell the Sound Pro in France.
Xiaomi 10G Router
Finally, here is the spider. This is not an Asus modem, known for their spaceship looks, but a Xiaomi router that will not go unnoticed. Wi-Fi 6 compatible, this allows theoretically reaching 10 Gb/s of wireless speed, it also has 4 Ethernet ports at 2.5 Gb/s, 1 Ethernet port at 10 Gb/s and a 10 Gb/s optical port. s.
It’s a Qualcomm IPQ8072A chip on board, with 2GB of RAM. Xiaomi announces that it can exceed 4 Gb/s peak in Wi-Fi with a Xiaomi 13. As with the other announcements, we will have to wait to find out if this product will be available in Europe. Count 250 euros for the Xiaomi 10G Router.
