The presentation of the Xiaomi Poco F4, based on the Redmi K50, is expected around the beginning of the second quarter of 2022 and will be equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, 120W charging and a 4700mAh battery.
The Poco F3 from Xiaomi impressed with its performance and good cameras and thus had an overall good price-performance ratio. Xiaomi now seems to be preparing the successor model. Read what we already know about the Poco F4.
When will the Xiaomi Poco F4 be released?
We don’t have a confirmed release date yet, but there are reports that suggest an approximate timeframe for the Poco F4’s unveiling.
Digital Chat Station posted on Weibo that Xiaomi is preparing to release the Redmi K50 series in February 2022. This is interesting because the Redmi K40 was presented worldwide as Poco F3.
When the Redmi K50 is launched in February 2022, the Poco F4 will probably not be long in coming in Europe and many other countries. The timing would roughly correspond to the launch strategy of the previous model, as the Poco F3 was announced in March 2021 and released in mid-April.
What will the Xiaomi Poco F4 cost?
Prices are not yet known, so we take the previous models as a rough guide:
Xiaomi Poco F3 (6GB RAM, 128GB) – 349 euros
Xiaomi Poco F3 (8GB RAM, 256GB) – 399 euros
Xiaomi Poco F1 (6GB RAM, 64GB) – 260 euros
Xiaomi Poco F1 (8GB RAM, 256GB) – 375 euros

If we take the top models with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage as a guide, you will probably pay between 350 euros and 450 euros for the Poco F4. Of course, the current global silicon shortage is driving prices higher, as are the supply chain disruptions caused by the pandemic. So when the Poco F4 actually launches, prices could be a bit higher.
What features will the Xiaomi Poco F4 offer?
As with all details about the Poco F4, nothing is currently coming directly from the manufacturer. Some smartphones associated with the Poco F4 lineup have been registered with the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) in Russia, but the listings don’t include details on specifications or design.
As mentioned above, the launch of the F4 series could be related to the release of the Redmi K50 series.
91Mobiles claims that there will be four models in the K50 range: K50, K50 Gaming Edition, K50 Pro and K50 Pro+.
If these are Poco F4 variants, then we expect the standard F4 to have the same specs as the Redmi K50. The Poco F4 GT (intended for India) should then be based on the specifications of the K50 Gaming Edition. It is not yet certain whether the specifications of the K50 Pro and K50 Pro+ versions also apply to the comparable Poco F4 models.
We got a first impression of what the smartphones could look like. A case has emerged that is said to belong to the Redmi K50 Pro. This prompted XiaomiUI to create a render model of the possible design:
Don’t forget that this is just a rendering made by a fan. Even if this is true, it is not certain how far Xiaomi will change the design over time.
Xiaomi has already confirmed that the K50 series will come with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, 120W charging and a 4700mAh battery – although these will likely be the specs of the most expensive Pro+ model.
Xiaomi has confirmed via Mediatek that the Dimensity 9000 will be used in the K50 series, but did not say which model it will be in.
According to 91Mobiles, the K50/Poco F4 will be powered by a Mediatek Dimensity 7000 series processor, which is said to be a solid mid-range chip, while the K50 Gaming Edition/Poco F4 GT will get the more powerful 4nm Dimensity 9000. Finally, the K50 Pro is to be equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 870.

. He believes that the K50 will get the Dimensity 9000 and there will be a K50s with the Snapdragon 870 called the Poco F4. The K50 Gaming Pro also gets the Dimensity 9000 and becomes the new Poco F4 GT. In his opinion, the K50 Pro can look forward to an 8 Gen 1 chip.
In summary, he predicts a similar series of four smartphones, but with slightly different names, different reference to the Poco F4 series and also different specifications.
Chun, on the other hand, expects two smartphones with the Dimensity 9000 and none with a slower 7000.
We’ll probably have to be patient for a while before we really know more.
One of the four phones has appeared in several Geekbench listings as offering Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, 12GB RAM and Android 12, but it remains unclear which model it is.
GSMArena reports that the Poco F4 GT’s camera will likely be a 64Mp sensor, while the battery will have a capacity of 5000mAh. The device is expected to have 100W fast charging and be IP68 waterproof.
If Xiaomi keeps the body and layout of the Poco F3, then we expect a 6.67-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with an under-display fingerprint sensor.
The Poco F3 had a triple camera setup on the back; consisting of 48Mp main, 8Mp ultra wide and 5Mp macro lens. It wouldn’t be surprising if these cameras are adopted for the Poco F4 as well.
