Ymen-Saudi Sanaa-Residents Coalition Strike

ADEN, Feb 14 (Reuters) – The Saudi-led coalition intervening militarily in Yemen struck a ground station used by the Houthis to operate drones, Saudi state television reported on Monday after the coalition demanded civilians present in the Yemeni ministries of Sanaa to evacuate the premises immediately.

An airstrike hit a ground station near the telecommunications ministry in the north of Yemen’s capital, residents told Reuters.

Al Massirah television, controlled by the Shia Houthi movement, reported that a Saudi coalition attack had targeted the telecommunications ministry and destroyed the building of telecoms operator TeleYemen.

The Saudi coalition said the Houthis were using the ministry as a “launch base for conducting hostile operations” and in response a site linked to the latest attack on Abha International Airport would be destroyed.

Twelve people were injured on Thursday in a drone attack on Abha airport in southwestern Saudi Arabia by the Houthis. (Report Mohammed Ghobari, Alaa Swilam, Omar Fahmy and Nayera Abdallah; French version Camille Raynaud)
