you can make money but it’s already scandalous

Since the takeover of Twitter by Elon Musk, the blue bird social network has been the subject of a lot of debate about its management. And this novelty is not likely to improve things.

Last February, the billionaire Elon Musk, owner of Twitter had promised that the creators of content on the social network would receive part of the remuneration of the advertisements which appear in response to their tweets. Finally, we had to wait 6 months for this feature to finally appear and again… Since it has already caused a scandal due to its very particular implementation.

Make money on Twitter, yes but…

For the past few days, dozens of accounts have been sharing screenshots of notifications to indicate that they were about to receive their share of ad revenue. Good news for them, this sum could even reach 100,000 dollars for some. Alas the calculation period is not indicated and worse, it does not in fact concern everyone. For now, Twitter’s monetization rules indicate that to participate in the program, you must have at least 5 million views on your tweets in the last 3 months. Of course, you must also subscribe to the Twitter Blue program. So far so good, many users are eligible on paper. But in fact only a small part of them have/will receive a payment. Indeed a Twitter Blue account with 300,000 subscribers made the request and according to a response from the Twitter company, the monetization system only concerns selected profiles. How are these selected? Mystery.

Twitter and its funny politics

According to initial feedback, the profiles in question made no particular request, but they all seem to have the same thing in common: being part of the same political side (republican in this case for American accounts) or navigating the same ideological sphere (anti-woke, etc) as well as having a connection with Musk himself. This is for example the case of MrBeast, already a multimillionaire who relays Tesla novelties. Ditto for the creator of Dogecoin. In the lot, some do not even respect the internal legislation of Twitter like Andrew Tate who benefits from monetization when he is indicted for human trafficking and rape and publishes many sexist messages. A scandal that has only just begun. Another great mystery which at least allows us to realize that the coffers of the company are no longer so empty and that everything is done to keep the influencers.
