Just in time for the start of the holiday season, passengers can now use the “Slot and Fly” service to book time slots at Hamburg Airport for the security check. The 15-minute slots can be booked online and are independent of the airline.
With the “Slot and Fly” service, passengers have the opportunity to reserve a time slot 72 hours before departure, as announced by Hamburg Airport on Wednesday. The 15-minute slots can therefore be booked via the airport’s online portal and used independently of the airline.

This should make it easier to plan the day of arrival and reduce waiting times. In combination with the existing self-service counters for baggage check-in, the situation during holiday periods with a high number of passengers should be eased.
“Anyone who checks in online, hands in their suitcases at the machine and now books a new time slot for the security check will get to the gate more quickly,” said Michael Eggenschwiler, CEO at Hamburg Airport. Around 270,000 passengers per week are expected during the Easter holidays, and up to 40,000 arrivals and departures per day on peak days.
This service is also available in Berlin, Düsseldorf and Frankfurt
Other large German airports also offer such a service. This includes the capital airport BER and the airport Dusseldorf , where the reservation option for the security check was only newly introduced. As well on frankfurters Airport has been testing such an offer since mid-February. (dpa)
