Youcef Belaïli: The Algerian ignites the number of subscribers on Brest’s social networks

An incredible buzz. In the last hours of the winter transfer window, Brest secured the services of Youcef Belaïli to replace Romain Faivre who had left for Lyon. And the arrival of the Algerian international has allowed the Breton club to break its record for subscribers on social networks.

In just a few hours, Brest has seen its number of “followers” more than double. Monday, at the start of the day, before the announcement of the signing of Belaïli, the 13th in Ligue 1 had around 440,000 subscribers on his various social networks (144,000 on Facebook, 126,000 on Tiktok, 91,000 on Twitter and 79,000 on Instagram). And in the minutes that followed the formalization of the arrival of the midfielder, this figure exploded, exceeding the million mark, with in particular 615,000 subscribers on Facebook and more than 250,000 on Instagram.

“Thank you to all … and to Youcef”, reacted the club, when announcing that it had crossed this symbolic milestone. This enthusiasm has completely surprised Stade Brestois and it may not be over yet, while the player, a real star in his country, is followed by nearly three million people on his Instagram account.

Free since the termination of his contract with Qatar SC last December, after having shone during the Arab Cup with the Algerian selection with a magnificent lob in the semi-final against Morocco, Youcef Belaïli (30) has already played in France on the side of Angers without succeeding in imposing themselves. If his name was mentioned during the month of January on the side of Montpellier, Saint-Etienne or even OM, it was in Brest that he decided to pursue a career which has known several upheavals.

And with the number 24 on the back – whose jerseys could sell in hundreds or even thousands of copies in Brittany as in Algeria – Youcef Belaïli, who has signed up for six months, will try to help the Brest training to ensure its maintenance in Ligue 1.
