Watching videos from a TV is now going to be more frustrating than ever.

While Microsoft is forcing Windows 11 into Windows 10, the giant Google will impose long advertisements on its users on TV.

30-second ads are coming to YouTube (except you can’t skip these)

In recent years, advertisements have occupied an important place on YouTube. Regardless of the device you are on (computer, smartphone, TV, etc.), you must always be patient before you can access the content you want to watch. In this logic of inserting more advertising into its platform, YouTube could well require users to deactivate their ad blocker to be able to access their content. And, obviously, we are not yet at the end of our surprises…

Last week at his event YouTube Brandcast, the famous platform has announced the imminent arrival of non-skippable 30-second advertisements for connected televisions. This should undoubtedly cool more than one. Unless maybe it’s not that bad after all?

All platform content affected?

During its event, the American giant wanted to recall how more and more people are now going through their television to watch YouTube. Like streaming services like Netflix or Dsiney+, why can’t you watch your YouTube videos from your sofa, after all? Anyway, you will (unfortunately) have to deal with the situation and suffer 30-second commercials without being able to skip them. On the other hand, to reassure you, these will only target 5% of the most popular YouTube content, as the site reports. The Verge.

Along with this announcement, we also learned that YouTube is considering the possibility of showing ads to your videos when you pause them on your Smart TV. As you can see from the capture above, these ads should materialize as a banner around the video. On the other hand, unlike 30-second ads, these can of course be ignored. At this time, we don’t know when these new ad settings will be applied.
