Good news: Shorts should become a little less obtrusive on YouTube.

Indeed, Google seems to have listened to the criticisms made against YouTube and finally intends to separate the Shorts from the so-called “traditional” videos.

YouTube: Shorts find a tab

It’s been two years since the Shorts took a growing place in YouTube. If these small videos inspired by TikTok and Instagram meet with some success on the Google platform, it must be admitted that they have become particularly invasive. All you have to do is go to the home page of one of your favorite channels to see that the Shorts appear in the same tab as the videos, resulting in a concern for consistency and clarity.

To overcome this, the Mountain View company announced that the Shorts would henceforth be separated from the videos and that they would finally have their own tab, as shared with us by the teams of 9to5Google. Thus, the pages of the channels will now be better organized, and the vertical thumbnails of the Shorts will no longer mix with those of the videos. Phew!

Finally, note that the Shorts will not be the only ones to get their own tab, since this will also be the case for live videos. In addition to offering much better ergonomics, this will make it possible to segment the channels of the famous platform according to the different types of content offered. If this change should concern all devices and applications, for the time being, we do not know when it will take place. It will therefore still be necessary to be patient before seeing YouTube regain its clarity of yesteryear…
