In a future update, the application YouTubeMusic will benefit from an interface change reserved for android tablets.
Remaining among the best music streaming services, YouTube Music is unfortunately not always optimal when it comes to usability for large screens. After having benefited from the first visual changes, the application will now offer a new display layout for the albums.
YouTube Music: albums get a makeover
During the I/O 2022 event, which took place last May, the Mountain View company took the opportunity to announce its big return to the Android tablet market. On this occasion, the giant also expressed its desire to further optimize applications for devices with a large screen, such as touch pads. And among the apps concerned, we obviously find YouTube Music.
After having benefited from a few changes, it will now offer users a new display in the “albums” part of the application. More concretely, the name of the artist, the type of media (album) and the release date of the song/album will appear at the top of the screen in portrait mode. Note also that the cover of the album will be larger, that a blurred background of the cover will appear and that the name of the album, the song, as well as a description will appear just below the little bag.
A few quick commands have also been integrated below the album name and description. This includes downloading, adding to library, playing, sharing as well as the usual three-dot menu. In landscape mode, you will see the list of songs appear on the right while the album information will appear on the left of the screen. Note, however, that this new interface will not apply to downloaded music.
Currently, it appears that only one user on Reddit was able to access this redesign of the YouTube Music app on tablets. This is the reason why it is still impossible for us to determine precisely when this update will be deployed on a large scale.
