YouTube and gaming star Marcel Eris, aka “MontanaBlack” (33), from Buxtehude, was quiet for an unusually long time. Now he announced his temporary withdrawal from the public via Twitter.
“Right now I’ve probably arrived at the lowest point in my life, physically and mentally. A few things have happened outside of the internet and I’ll need my time to get back to my old self. When or how I don’t know myself,” tweeted MontanaBlack on Saturday night.

The 33-year-old “MontanaBlack”, bourgeois Marcel Eris, is Germany’s streaming king. More than four million people follow him on the live platform Twitch, almost three million on YouTube and 3.1 million on Instagram. From live streaming his gaming sessions and selling his two books, Eris has built an estimated fortune in the millions.

Scam? Serious allegations against Montanablack
What happened? Eris has been under fire for weeks for regularly hosting shady NFT sweepstakes on Twitter. A few weeks ago he promoted an NFT that showed a monkey with a swastika. Now there was a big scandal, because one of the competitions turned out to be a scam, as he later had to admit himself. According to the gaming site “ingame”, Eris was even reported to the BaFin (Federal Financial Supervisory Authority) by a user because he suspected tax fraud in the behavior of “MontanaBlack”.
There was severe criticism from the numerous fans of the streamer. They accused the 33-year-old of greed and a lack of transparency. For the most part, they now react to his resignation with understanding. “Take the time you need” and “I wish you a lot of strength”, they comment under the post.
