YouTube: Will Smith’s slap smashes MrBeast’s record

Will Smith’s slap on Chris Rock smashed YouTube’s 24-hour view record for a video not music or a trailer.

On Sunday, March 27, 2022, the 94th Academy Awards took place in Los Angeles, California. During this evening, a particular event panicked the canvas as rarely.

Internet users’ social networks have been inundated with videos, messages and memes concerning actor Will Smith’s slap on comedian Chris Rock live on stage.

The altercation took place following a joke by Chris Rock about the shaved head of Jada Pinkett Smith, Will’s wife. This joke did not please Jada who has alopecia, a disease causing severe hair loss, and her husband then got up to go and hit the American comedian on stage.

This totally unexpected event at such a prestigious evening immediately went viral around the world. On social networks, the video of the slap was looped and the reactions of Internet users were very numerous.

Except that Will Smith has been there and all this now seems like ancient history for MrBeast.

The video of the altercation at the Oscars on the Guardian News channel smashed the former record for a non-music video or trailer with more than 59 million views in 24 hours.

Nearly two days after the event, the Guardian News video counts over 69 million views and is always trending on the platform.

Many other channels shared Will Smith’s slap on YouTube. The total number of views must be mind-boggling but it was the Guardian news video that stood out. Can she beat the record of 100 million views in four days? Answer in the next few hours…
