Yu Gi Oh! Early Days Collection: a compilation of games from yesteryear revealed by Konami!

This weekend, Japanese fans of the license Yu Gi Oh! had an appointment at Tokyo Dome for the event Yu Gi Oh! Duel Monsters: The Legend of Duelist Quarter Century organized by Konami. Yes, even if the license of the late Kazuki Takahashi began in 1996 with his cult manga, it was only from 1999 that the publisher launched theOCG, which will therefore celebrate its 25th anniversary this year. Among the announcements of livestream which was broadcast on the Web, there is one which will extremely please the oldest fans who miss the time when video game releases followed one another and were generally of high quality (for their time), without being of the free-to-play full of microtransactions like in recent years. With Yu-Gi-Oh! Early Days Collection, these are productions from yesteryear that will make a comeback!

Despite the mention in the French press release mentioning a “new digital title”, which will upset fans of boxed games, Yu Gi Oh! Early Days Collection will therefore allow you to find old games on Switch and PC via Steamsome of which have never been released in the West so far. For the moment, only two were confirmed during the presentation and, strangely, only the first is mentioned in the information we received.

This is Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters 4: Battle of Great Duelists, released on Game Boy Color on December 7, 2000 in the Archipelago in three different versions (Yugi, Kaiba And Joey Deck) related to the three Egyptian god cards (sorry Marik…). For the record, in France, we were only entitled to the second episode of this series of games, Yu Gi Oh! Duel of Darknessknown in Japan under the title Yu Gi Oh! Duel Monsters III: Tri-Holy God Advent.

The other episode that was confirmed during the event, as evidenced by the screenshot above, is Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters 6: Expert 2, released on December 20, 2001 for Game Boy Advance in the land of the Rising Sun and not before April 17, 2003 by us in a modified version called Yu Gi Oh! Worldwide Edition: Stairway to the Destined Duel.

Obviously, we can only hope that among the other productions of this compilation will be found Yu Gi Oh! The Sacred Cards And Reshef the Destroyerwhich were excellent, or even Day of the Duelisteven Dungeon Dice Monsters if the spin-offs not involving cards are taken into account by Konami.

In short, there is reason to rejoice and all that remains is to wait for more details. If you play on PC, Yu Gi Oh! Legacy of the Duelist is currently sold for €17.99 at the house of Gamesplanet.
