Zoom pays for Liminal to better integrate professional virtual events

will strengthen its events offering. The American company announced on its blog that it had acquired several technologies from Liminal, a startup specializing in the distribution and creation of content.

An acquisition that should help the videoconferencing software to strengthen its Events offer, dedicated to the organization of online events.

A few months after the failure of the takeover of Five9 because of its fall on the stock market, Zoom pays for the startup Liminal. In its line of sight, the complementary modules of its videoconferencing tools: ZoomOSC and ZoomISO, making it possible to organize professional virtual events. The first improves meetings and events by enabling the integration of Zoom into several third-party software and hardware workflows. As for the second, it allows the video stream of each participant to be exported as a full-fledged output to professional production materials.

Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed. Nevertheless, the two co-founders of Liminal, Andy Carluccio and Jonathan Kokotajlo, join the ranks of Zoom as of this month of January. With this acquisition, the company intends to “ bridging the gap between emerging and traditional event control tools »While expanding its Events function. The goal: to create event centers, sell tickets, create live broadcast sessions and help the various venues offer more professional streams.
