Indeed, Peter Thiel, co-founder of PayPal and Palantir, is preparing to leave the board of directors of the Californian company. He had been there since 2005 after investing half a million dollars in 2004, making him one of the first major investors in Mark Zuckerberg’s company.
In 2016, the American entrepreneur, also known for his holdings in Airbnb, Stripe and SpaceX, distinguished himself by openly displaying his support for Donald Trump. And it is moreover towards politics that he plans to turn in the coming months. According to New York Times, Peter Thiel indeed wishes to support the pro-Trump Republican candidates in view of the mid-term elections, scheduled for November in the United States. A position that clashes in a Silicon Valley with a very majority Democrat.
