350 current missions – golf balls hailed in Linz-Pichling


For the fourth evening in a row, the fire brigades are on duty in severe weather. This time mainly in the central area and around Grieskirchen. Golf balls were hailing in Linz.

“All the cars that were parked outside have dents,” says reader reporter Ferdinand Hofmann, who sent us the video.

Several thunderstorm cells
It started around 5 p.m. in the central room, the cell moved north via Steyregg. More thunderstorms then built up around Tollet in the Grieskirchen district and between Walding and Gramastetten.

350 missions
The fire brigades in Upper Austria had been deployed to around 130 missions by 7:00 p.m., and by 7.45 p.m. there were already 350. Nothing is known of injuries at the moment. It is mainly about full basements, fallen trees and leaky roofs after hailstorms.
