5 tips to (finally) make children eat soup

It is every parent's dream: for their sweet offspring to fill up on greenery without having to face the grimace fair. Mission possible with our tips!

1. Prefer seasonal vegetables

So that your children are happy to dip their spoon in your soup, make sure that your preparation has taste! Yes, yes, the little wizards are not mistaken: like us, they are generally gourmets.
Rule # 1 for a tasty soup? Quality ingredients with seasonal vegetables. A zucchini purée will never be as succulent as it is on sunny days, and even more so if it has not crossed borders to land on your kids' plates.

The plus tip?
Hang a calendar of seasonal fruits and vegetables on your fridge, and help your child find their way throughout the year.

2. Bet on a single colorful ingredient

As part of dietary diversification, it is advisable to offer only one vegetable at a time. But this recommendation is also relevant for older children. Rather than always mixing the same trio, bet on a single-ingredient soup that will reveal the colors: the neon green of the watercress, the orange of the carrot or the fuchsia of the beetroot. It will be both pretty and tasty!

The plus tip?
Thicken and sweeten your soup with Kiri®. Children love it!
Listening to mothers looking for simple and natural foods, Kiri® is committed to an eco-responsible approach with a simple, short and gourmet recipe made up of dairy ingredients of French origin, for a more taste. fresh and even better, water, salt and ferments. 3. Go to the market with the little ones

From an early age, children can be made aware of the importance of short circuits. To explain to them, nothing better than going directly to discuss with the producers in the markets (while respecting the barrier gestures, note). This allows the little ones to find meaning, and especially to know what fruits and vegetables really look like, that is to say by documenting themselves other than in a picture book.
Ps: do you remember that terrible study which showed that 87% of children do not recognize beets and 40% do not know where the minced steak comes from?

The plus tip?
Even better than the markets, go to the picking farms. Your children will be able to immerse their hands directly in the earth and be in contact with the product. It's still more fun than opening a brick soup!

4. Cook with the family

From 18 months, children love to imitate us cooking. Know that these imitation games are very important in their development. When you prepare the soup, sit the little ones next to you, facing their own kitchen, giving them a few dummy vegetables to simmer, while the older ones can help you with small tasks like peeling the vegetables (at least try ) or place the KIRI in the soup.

The plus tip?
If they're old enough to cook without hurting themselves, you can even challenge them to take turns making the best soup. A sort of top chef at home between brothers and sisters. You will see, they will never be so motivated to eat their soup!

5. Organize a soup party

For a soup to be more attractive, it must be embellished with little gourmet details. We obviously think of alphabet pasta or angel hair (because it is well known, soup is always better with). But you can also suggest that your children add toppings themselves to spice up their soup, a bit like in a party pancake: parmesan shavings, crushed cashew nuts, oven-baked croutons, dried seaweed, pieces of grilled bacon. , roasted chickpeas, aromatic herbs …

The plus tip?
If you face a super resistant to soup, try offering something at the end of the meal that makes him very happy like his favorite dessert. That way soup night will be associated with something he loves!
