500,000 consumer reports recorded on the SignalConso site

About 500,000 reports have been made by consumers on the SignalConso platform since 2020, the government announced on Monday. Erroneous prices, dubious commercial practices… The platform makes it possible to report any error to the Fraud Prevention Department.

Around 500,000 reports have been made by consumers on the DGCCRF’s SignalConso platform since 2020, 43% of which relate to e-commerce, the government announced on Monday.

The platform, now available via a free mobile application, has been used by more than 320,000 consumers, announced Olivia Grgoire, Minister Delegate for SMEs and Trade, at a press conference.

It enables consumers to quickly approach a professional with a problem (delivery, misleading promise, contract, etc.) and find out about their rights.

Nearly 200,000 reports in one year

Over the last 12 months, 195,000 reports have been filed, including 75,000 for online purchases, 23,000 for in-store purchases, 18,000 for renovation work and 14,000 for travel and leisure, further details a press release from Bercy.

More than 43% of the reports relate to websites: product quality, delivery times, warranty, withdrawal or refund conditions, lack of legal notices, etc., he adds.

Most companies take into account what is reported and correct, said for his part Sarah Lacoche, the new director general of the Directorate General of competition and the repression of fraud.

SignalConso allows DGCCRF agents to better target their investigations and controls, in particular by facilitating the identification of professionals who are the subject of many reports or emerging problems.
