Le Grand Bêtisier: how are bloopers made?

On the occasion of the broadcast of the Grand Bêtisier on Saturday August 13, 2022, from 9:05 p.m. on TF1, Télé Star reveals how these programs are designed by the different channels.

Summer program of the various television channels for many years, the bloopers are often very well attended by the public when they are programmed during the summeror during the end-of-year celebrations. TF1 understood it well and will propose a new number of its Big Blooper Saturday August 14, 2022, from 9:05 p.m. If this type of show does not seem very complex to achieve in appearance, some sequences are sometimes quite expensive to acquire for the producers.

In order not to inflate manufacturing costs too much, the latter will favor the broadcasting of sequences from programs belonging to the broadcasters with whom they workbefore going to buy those of their competitors. “TF1 and M6 have understood the potential of their images and almost systematically refuse to distribute them. They prefer to keep them to feed their own programs“, revealed on this subject the producer Philippe Thuillier in an interview with West France in 2018.

Le Grand Bêtisier: between 800 and 1000 euros per minute for certain excerpts

“There is price inflation: today, it takes between 800 and 1000 euros per minute. Added to this are assembly costs. We quickly reach high prices“, he added. Philippe Thuillier thus demonstrates that the production of bloopers has now become a real business. “Game show clips are some of the most expensive, to make up for the charge, we put images from the Web on some magnetos he pointed out. This explains why some bloopers are “less strong” than others, because we can’t always afford the images we dream ofhas specified the producer.

Since their first on-air appearances, bloopers have evolved a lot. These programs, which were taps with juxtaposed images at the start, have today become true editorialized programs, which consequently increases their manufacturing cost considerably. “We try to tell stories by editorializing the sequences. Today, we can no longer be satisfied with putting images end to end with pre-recorded laughter. I know some still do, but it’s completely outdated.“, assured Philippe Thuillier.

“The bloopers adapt to the broadcasters we are addressing. At the house of NRJ12we are quite generational: we are looking for sequences that appeal to young people. At France Télévisions, we choose unpublished ones but also ‘gold’ because it’s nice to see moments that people haven’t forgotten: seeing the first excerpts, they are greedy for what we are going to offer them he added, in order to explain the differences that may exist between the various bloopers offered by each of the channels.
