A new fire in California, thousands of evacuees


Authorities in northern California on Friday, September 2 ordered the evacuation of thousands of residents in the face of a fire progressing at an alarming rate. The fire, baptized Mill Fire, has already destroyed several homes and threatens hundreds of others, all in the north of the big state, on the border with that of Oregon. The flames are progressing “at a dangerous pace”local Siskiyou County firefighters said.

“Your life is in danger. Legal order to leave immediately. The area is, by law, closed to the public., intimates the evacuation order, which applies to the towns of Weed, Lake Shastina and Edgewood, among others. This new fire comes as California is hit by an extreme heat wave, with temperature peaks of up to 46° Celsius next week.
