A second wave of epidemic panics China

When France almost recovers (we have said almost) its former life, ten new districts of Beijing have been placed in quarantine.

This Monday, June 15, China announced dozens of new cases of Covid-19, for the second day in a row, and the quarantine of ten new districts of Beijing, which feeds the fear of a new wave, reports l 'AFP. Information opposite to what is happening in Europe, where the time is at the opening of borders.

Chinese authorities have reported 49 new cases of Covid-19, including 36 in Beijing, where a new outbreak linked to a food market was detected.

The city has thus discovered new cases of contamination in a wholesale market in the northwest of the capital, in the Haidian district, after having closed last week a gigantic market of fresh products in the south of the metropolis, in Fengtai district. Eleven residential areas had been quarantined in this area.

A massive screening of market employees and visitors, as well as residents of the sector, was implemented. 10,000 people have already been tested, according to AFP.

Since Friday, Beijing has had 75 new cases of contamination.

Nationally, 18 cases without symptoms have also been identified.

Political sanctions have also fallen. The Beijing City Hall dismissed two senior officials from Fengtai District, where Xinfadi is located, and the general manager of the market.

For the moment, some shortages of fresh products are being felt. At the Xianhui supermarket in central Beijing, several stalls usually loaded with fruit were empty on Monday. Employees said they were taken off the shelves because they came from the Xinfadi market.

In total, China has counted since the beginning of the epidemic more than 83,000 cases of contamination, including 4,634 fatal.
