Activision-Blizzard: ‘Some of the games’ will be released on PlayStation following Microsoft takeover, Bloomberg source says

The entire video game industry was surprised by the announcement of the acquisition ofActivision-Blizzard through Microsoft. And as for Zenimax in his days, the public wonders if the titles produced by the emblematic studios of the publisher will still be released on consoles playstation. For the parent company of Bethesda, despite somewhat reassuring remarks at the start, apart from certain games live-service and others for which contracts had already been signed, the desire seems to be to release everything exclusively on PC and Xbox.

And for the creations of future former developers ofActivision-Blizzard ? The official version of Phil Spencer, as he confided in Bloomberg, is that’he doesn’t want to “steer communities away” from competing platforms. Should we understand that it will simply continue to support cross-platform games already released, or that it will offer new features on PS4 and PS5?

I will simply say to gamers who play Activision-Blizzard games on Sony platforms: we have no intention of taking communities away from this platform and we are committed to doing so.

In off, Bloomberg learned from a “person familiar with business thinking” that Microsoft “plans to continue making some of Activision’s games for PlayStation consoles, but will also feature some Xbox-exclusive content.” Are we going to be entitled to a strategy on a case-by-case basis, depending on the benefits that Microsoft can make by selling games at playstation or by delivering exclusive productions to make its consoles and services more attractive? Only the future will tell… One thing is certain: experiences ofActivision-Blizzard past will gradually be added to the Game Pass, to which you can subscribe in version Ultimate for €12.99 per month.
