Adele admits the split from Simon Konecki was “overdue”. In an interview, she also tells of the great homesickness that plagues her.

Adele (33) spoke openly about the separation from ex-husband Simon Konecki (47) in 2019 and admitted that it was “overdue”. In conversation with Amanda Holden and Jamie Theakston from Heart Radio the singer was asked about this decisive experience, which she claims to have inspired her new single “Easy On Me”. She let the grief and “shame” about the end of the marriage flow into the other tracks of her new album “30”, which will be released on November 19th.

“You made some big, life-changing decisions, how important was that to you?” Theakston asked the superstar. “It was overdue,” replied Adele. “It was exhausting, it was really hard work, but I was able to take the time I needed, which is not something that everyone can take for granted, I am very aware of that.” The more you postpone it, the worse it gets, the Briton explained and admitted that she had “postponed it for years anyway”. “Now I’m completely relaxed. So I would say it’s worth going through all of this crap,” said Adele.

Adele and Konecki were a couple from 2011 and married from 2017. Their son Angelo was born in 2012. In April 2019, her management announced the separation, and at the beginning of this year there was an agreement in the divorce process.

“Complicated and Complex”

With regard to the release of another, very personal album, Adele added in the interview that she had learned more in the past few years than ever before. “There is a reason that she is” one of the most complicated and complex people ” that she’s got to know in her life. “And I have the feeling that I now understand a little better why that is,” she explained.

Homesickness for Great Britain

In the candid interview, Adele also admitted that she was homesick for the UK after spending the last year in the US, where she lives with her nine-year-old son Angelo. “When I speak to the British, I get incredibly homesick. It actually makes me a little angry,” she said.

Promotion drum for the new album

It was announced on Monday that Adele is getting her own CBS special, in which she will introduce new material from her upcoming album. The two-hour special, entitled “Adele One Night Only”, will air on November 14th, five days before the release of their long-awaited fourth album “30”.

The singer will also speak to US talk icon Oprah Winfrey (67) about her divorce, weight loss and life as a mother.
