In recent days, several brands of parsley ham have been affected by a recall procedure in the stores of many brands in France. An alert not to be taken lightly since these references are recalled due to salmonella.
After cooked ham, it is the turn of numerous other references of marbled ham to be the subject of a recall by the government site Rappel Conso. If in recent weeks, many products have been recalled from the market after being contaminated by listeria, the bacteria responsible for listeriosis, it is the turn of salmonella to come into play! Responsible for salmonellosis, this bacteria can be very dangerous for humans. This is why it is essential to remain vigilant if you have purchased or consumed marbled ham recently!
Indeed, the Rappel Conso site published a series of recalls between Wednesday November 15 and Monday November 20, 2023 concerning numerous references of marbled hams sold in numerous brands in France including U, Carrefour and Auchan. These references are suspected of containing a bacteria called salmonella responsible for salmonellosis as well as food poisoning which can cause diarrhea, vomiting, fever, headaches, abdominal pain and, for some, more serious consequences with complications. The Rappel Conso website specifies that these symptoms can occur “generally 6 to 72 hours after consumption of contaminated products“.

The reminder sheets also indicate that pregnant women, children, and the elderly and immunocompromised are more likely to develop the disease. If, on the other hand, no symptoms appear within 7 days after consuming the product, “there is no need to worry and consult a doctor“. If you have cooked the product at more than 65°C before consuming it or if you are in doubt about a reference, it is recommended to cook it at this temperature in order to destroy any bacteria found on the meat.
Despite everything, the Rappel Conso site strongly advises no longer consuming the incriminated products and returning them to the stores where they were purchased in order to benefit from a refund. If the dates are different for each of the products, the shortest deadline is December 4, 2023.
