The association 30 million friends warns of the considerable dropout rate in France since the start of the health crisis.

The association 30 million friends made a sad assessment. While she is in the habit of launching a campaign before the start of the summer holidays to raise awareness of the high dropout rate at this time of the year, she has also noted many alarming cases since the start of the crisis sanitary. In a press release, it reads: "In just a few days, the 30 Million Friends Foundation took care of abandoned animals."

To illustrate his point and testify to the alarming situation, the association mentioned three cats left to themselves, without water or food: "To extract the felines from the fully enclosed house located in Lure, the police were forced to break a window "Arnauld Lhomme, head of investigations at the 30 Million Friends Foundation, says that no one knows how long they have been alone. Neighbors had given the alert following the smell that emitted from the apartment before the police noticed that the cats were trying to survive in the middle of their excrement.

"The situation is appalling"

This terrible situation, unfortunately, is not isolated. The association 30 million friends has witnessed other animal abandonments in empty homes. This increase in dropouts is explained by two factors linked to the coronavirus pandemic. First, there are the hospitalized people. The consequences are real for their pets who are left to fend for themselves overnight. In addition, there are also dropouts considered voluntary by the association. This can therefore take into account people who have left their home to confine themselves elsewhere.

The watchword therefore seems clear to the association 30 million friends: we must remain mobilized. Reha Hutin, President of the Foundation, said: "Unfortunately, in epidemic times as in normal times, thousands of animals endure the ordeal of abandonment. (…) We remain more mobilized than ever to come to help these innocent victims. "
