A few days before the return of the Alex Hugo series on France 3, actress Marilyne Canto announced in Télé 7 Jours that she will be leaving the series.
Departures continue within the cast of the Alex Hugo series, whose new season will soon return with the broadcast of episode 3 of season 7 entitled “Alone in the world” next January 25 on France 3. Actress Marilyn Canto, who has played the role of Commissioner Christine Dorval since 2016, announced this Thursday, January 14 in an interview she gave to Télé 7 Jours that she is about to leave the series. And the announcement was made quite naturally since it closely follows that of Lionnel Astier, who decided to leave Alex Hugo in 2021. A decision that Marilyne Canto therefore understood and that she decided to follow at her tower. When a question was asked about the departure of her co-star Lionnel Astier, the actress was indeed straightforward.
“Having also decided to leave the program to live other adventures, I understand Lionel Astier’s desire for change.” she explained. However, this does not mean that she will not miss her role as Christine Dorval, but it was time for her to sail towards new horizons. “That said, I really liked playing in Alex Hugo. But it’s very demanding because we shoot between June and October, and we are sometimes blocked on site by the weather”. Constraints from which the actress wanted to free herself in order to be able to participate in other projects. In Télé 7 Jours, she nevertheless insisted on underlining what had motivated her to accept the role, and which could be a clue as to her future roles.
Marilyne Canto wants to “live other adventures”
Within the universe of Alex Hugo, Marilyne Canto was interested in the fact “to play the woman who will influence the investigations”. Despite his departure, fans will still be able to see her in the next episode which will air on January 25, just like Lionel Astier. Indeed it had been shot before the departure of the two actors. When he left, Lionel Astier – who has played Angelo Batalla since his arrival in the series in 2014 – had for his part given another reason, emphasizing lack of novelty. “I have the feeling that we are a little in repetition concerning [mon personnage]“.
