New revelations made by a US website have prompted police to react to the Alex Murdaugh case, the ousted lawyer accused of organizing his death in connection with an insurance fraud and whose wife and son were killed.
Is Alex Murdaugh involved in the death of his wife and son, who were found shot dead in their South Carolina hunting lodge last June? The independent website FitsNews claims that the ousted lawyer, once at the head of a powerful dynasty of lawyers in the region, is said to have been linked to the murder of the two victims. According to the media, physical evidence would prove his role in this crime. It was he who said he found the bodies and called for help on the day of the tragedy. Citing anonymous sources close to the investigation, FitsNews says there are “substantial and serious” reasons to believe that he will be arrested soon for this story. These elements prompted the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) to respond, saying in a statement that it had “no comment to make on the potential existence of any evidence or on the active investigation that is taking place at the moment ”. The FitsNews site responded by saying that so far SLED has officially denied some false rumors or information regarding the matter, which it has not done here, just for commenting.
Last October, Alex Murdaugh’s lawyer himself confirmed that his client was “a person of interest” in this investigation which is still trying to determine who killed the two victims, and why. If the lawyer shared this information, he had however insisted that Alex Murdaugh was visiting his sick mother at the time of the murders. “And he had no reason to kill them,” he explained. “You would think if Alex was the one who did it, the police could have established this quite easily that night.” You would think they would have searched his house and found blood somewhere. You would think they would have found the murder weapons on the property. You’d think they’d find something to tie Alex to the murders, forensic or independent evidence. To my knowledge, they haven’t, ”he added.
Several heavy files
The files around Alex Murdaugh are numerous. Two months after the death of his wife and son, he himself was shot and attacked outside his home. The investigation actually revealed that he had organized his murder – from which he emerged alive – by hiring someone, in order to allow his second son to collect millions of dollars in life insurance. After this fake attack, the authorities discovered that the powerful former lawyer was under an internal investigation by his cabinet, which accuses him of fraud. Following these revelations, the man addicted to opioids, announced his departure from the family business.
