“Ambitious Goals”
Bayern Munich extended with Kimmich

It is “a clear sign”. FC Bayern Munich and Joshua Kimmich have agreed on a new contract. The German international has prematurely extended his contract until 2025. Club and players are delighted.

Football national player Joshua Kimmich has prematurely extended his contract with Bayern Munich, which will expire in 2023, and thus set an example. The 26-year-old leading player signed with the German record champions until 2025. “He knows that he has the chance to achieve all of his ambitious goals at Bayern. The package that we can offer him is extremely attractive for every top international player,” said CEO Oliver Kahn of Kimmich.

“I don’t see myself at the end of my development and I am convinced that a lot is possible at Bayern in the next few years,” said Kimmich, who negotiated the contract himself without a consultant. The midfielder will in future rise to the upper salary category at Bayern and, according to reports, earn up to 20 million euros a year in the best case.

“With this contract extension, FC Bayern is sending a clear signal both internally and externally. We want to sign our best players for the long term,” said sports director Hasan Salihamidžić.

In 2015, Kimmich moved from VfB Stuttgart to FC Bayern for € 8.5 million. He has played 261 competitive games (30 goals, 71 assists) for the Munich team, with whom he won the six-single in 2020 and the German championship a total of six times.

The extension could also be a signal to Kimmich’s buddy Leon Goretzka, whose contract expires next summer. Negotiations with the 26-year-old midfielder are said to have been difficult so far. Bayern absolutely want to prevent a second case of David Alaba, who moved to Real Madrid on a free transfer after the past season.
