Until now remaining quite discreet despite its massive armor, Space Marine 2 lets slip before its time an element which should please fans of Warhammer 40,000, and especially of the first game.
Until then presented as a game comprising only a solo/co-op campaign, Space Marine 2 hid a little secret which was however revealed before its time. In any case, this is what we can see in a video recently shared on the Web.
In Space Marine 2, there is only war
Initially expected in 2023, Space Marine 2 was pushed back to September 9, 2024. Saber Interactive obviously needed time to refine its formula. And that’s without mentioning his situation with the controversial Embracer Group. Let us remember that the studio regained its independence a few months ago. Regardless, Warhammer 40,000 fans are patiently watching this title which promises to be visually superb and drawing gameplay inspiration from big names in the TPS genre such as Gears.
As a sequel, Space Marine 2 will pick up where the first opus released in 2011 left us. And this obviously in more than one way. In addition to offering a solo/co-op campaign, the sequel should also include a Players versus Players component. In a video spotted by our colleagues at PC Gaming, prdalien0 collected “Behind the Scenes” content from Saber Interactive. Called “The Art and Making of” (or “L’Art et la Manière” in good French) centered on the game, the studio does indeed hint at some multiplayer elements.
The Space Marines should thus be able to do battle with their brother-enemies of Chaos played by other players. There are even several chapters of the forces of Ruin: Alpha Legion, Black Legion, Death Guard, Iron Warriors, Nights Lords and World Eaters. Fans of the first game developed by Relic can therefore rejoice. The PvP mode of the original game had indeed enjoyed some success. It was possible to unlock different classes with varied gameplay, as well as corresponding weapons and customization options for your armor. Can we expect a multiplayer mode of the same caliber in Space Marine 2? Verdict, with a little prayer to the God-Emperor, September 9 on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series.
