While Android 12 is gradually being deployed on the manufacturers’ side, Google is already working hard on the next version of its system for smartphones and tablets, Android 13. While the main new features will not be known for several months , the Android Police site has already been able to get its hands on some expected features.

In an article posted on Tuesday, the specialized site unveils some screenshots obtained thanks to a developing version of the operating system. Enough to discover two features expected with Android 13.

The first of these concerns the management of the various user accounts associated with a smartphone or tablet. As shown by two screenshots shared by Android Police, Android 13 should indeed facilitate user switching directly from the lock screen. In addition to the change of account directly through the quick settings bar, Android 13 should allow the user to be selected on the lock screen, when entering their code to access the smartphone. In the screenshots uploaded, three choices are offered: owner (owner), restricted (restricted) and normal use (normal user). It is not known whether it will be three types of profiles or the name of the profiles as they were configured before the screenshot.

In addition, Android Police reports that it is impossible to know, at this stage, if this user management will be reserved only for tablets – which are in essence more easily shared within the household – or if this change of account will also be integrated. to smartphones.

The Google Assistant can be launched using the home button … or not

The other novelty discovered by Android Police for Android 13 this time concerns the activation of Google Assistant. On Android 12, when users choose to keep button navigation, it is no longer possible to launch the Google Assistant using a long press on the home button. On Android 13, it seems that this interaction is once again made possible, but also deactivatable.

In recent weeks, leaks have been increasing about Android 13. We have learned that the management of speakers, headphones and speakers will be simplified, that the clock can be changed on the lock screen or that more ‘applications will be able to run in the background.

The final version of Android 13 is not expected until next fall. However, Google should gradually unveil some new features with, as a highlight, the presentation of the OS in due form in the spring, during the Google I / O conference.
