Angelina Kirsch: Her father took away her fear of being on camera

This Friday (June 19th) the new show series "Guinness World Records" starts, which will be broadcast on three consecutive Fridays from 8:15 pm on Sat.1. Model and presenter Angelina Kirsch (31) presents the show, from autumn the 31-year-old will also lead through the well-known Sat.1 cooking show "The Taste". In an interview with the news agency spot on news, Kirsch reveals how her father has relieved her fear of the camera, what the audience can expect in the new record show and how she experiences "The Taste" filming under Corona conditions.

You can be seen as a presenter in two Sat.1 shows this year. Why do you like the moderation job?

Angelina Kirsch: I love the moderation job because I like to be around and entertain people. I always liked to be on stage and had a lot of fun getting people excited.

Do you find anything particularly difficult in front of the camera?

Kirsch: Even if that sounds strange, I've actually known it in front of the camera since I was born. The reason is my father, who is an absolutely passionate amateur filmmaker and has captured almost every event in our life with his video camera. So it is not really funny for me to see myself on TV. Of course, the family videos are very different from the result at big shows, but my father's hobby took away many of my fears. However, what is still difficult for me is when I should speak directly into the camera because I find it nicer to get direct reactions and emotions from my counterpart.

"Guinness World Records" is a brand new show. What can the audience expect?

Kirsch: The show is a ranking show in which we simply show incredible records. Every world record is a fantastic achievement, but in the three programs the viewers see spectacular, extreme and absolutely crazy records that are guaranteed to cause astonishment.

You said in a statement that you loved seeing people with a goal in mind peaking. Would you describe yourself as single-minded?

Kirsch: Yes, I'm definitely determined. For me, this is also due to the courage to pursue his dreams. In every project that I accept, I am wholeheartedly and passionately involved because I am so grateful for the opportunities in my life. These possibilities show me again and again that determination is worthwhile.

The new season of "The Taste" is already being produced. How does the shooting work under corona conditions?

Kirsch: Of course, Corona is a big topic in many productions. "The Taste" is all about the perfect taste on a spoon. In the kitchen there are always the highest hygiene regulations, so little has changed in our cooking processes. But of course it always means: keep a safe distance and wear a mask or visor behind the camera. Nevertheless, the mood on the set is great! Everyone adheres to the regulations and has so much fun shooting. It's a really good time on the set.

There will be a pure male jury. How do you get on with your colleagues and what can you tell about the new juror Alexander Kumptner?

Kirsch: I have a lot of fun with the four men and get on well with them. Of course it is a challenge as a woman between these four whole guys, but I have found my way to catch the horde again if she talks angry (laughs). They are all unique and complement each other perfectly! Alexander Kumptner makes the round perfect with his skills and his Viennese charm.

How do you relate to gastronomy and cuisine?

Kirsch: I am an absolute pleasure person and love the food. For me, eating is not a means to an end, but a quality of life. All the more I appreciate good food. It can be very different for me: the menu in a great restaurant, but also the piece of chocolate. For me, enjoyment has many facets. Unfortunately, I myself am not a talented cook, so I admire the work of chefs and our candidates all the more. For me, these are real artists!
