Anna, daughter of Pierre Lescure, reveals having been sexually assaulted

It was in a thread posted on Twitter that the famous journalist's daughter spoke of the sexual assault she suffered a year earlier. She also denounces the inaction of the police and the judiciary in the treatment of her attack.

"A year ago today, I was sexually assaulted. It wasn't the first time, but it was the first time I had the courage to file a complaint". Friday February 5, Anna Lescure, daughter of the famous journalist Pierre Lescure and Frédérique Fayles-Bernstein, revealed on her Twitter account that she had suffered a sexual assault in February 2020. She also gave her experience with the police and the justice system, and expressed their lack of initiative in handling cases of sexual violence.

She then evokes her filing of a complaint "without judgment" with a policewoman, despite the fact that the latter felt obliged to ask her indecent questions. "She even seemed embarrassed to ask me these famous questions: what was I wearing and had I behaved flirtatiously with my attacker?"writes Anna Lescure."I still don't understand that this is still being asked of sexual assault victims in 2020, but so be it."

Despite her complaint, the young woman denounces the lack of action of the police. A year after the fact, his attacker has still not been arrested, although his name is known. "I have everything, it seems, to put a dangerous and frightening individual out of harm's way: name, contact details, plethora of testimonies, other victims. But it's been a year to the day since this man assaulted me, and nothing has been done"she writes.

A misunderstanding that turned into anger. "I don't understand what more it took for the police to do something and stop an assailant who allowed himself to mark me for life just like too many other women he met that night. And I am shocked by this justice which makes fun of us. " She concluded her thread with: "So when I scream ACAB (Editor's note "All cops are bastards", an anti-police slogan) with all my strength, believe that I mean it from the depths of my being."

As a reminder, France was pinned down by the Council of Europe in November 2019 on its criminal response deemed insufficient in the face of violence against women in general.
