Whereas “the health situation is starting to evolve favorably”, the government wants to speed up the vaccination schedule. A few hours after the health defense council, Jean Castex announced, this Thursday, in the company of Olivier Véran, the opening of the booster dose to all 12-17 year olds. It will be done from next Monday and without obligation. So far, only children and adolescents in this age group most at risk could receive this additional injection.
“We are going to extend this possibility of a vaccine booster for everyone, without obligation”, declared the Prime Minister, alongside the Minister of Health and Solidarity. On Wednesday, they were 3,975,948, between 12 and 17 years old, to have already received their two injections, and barely 250,000 to have reached out a third time (257,852), according to figures from Public Health France. Since the end of December, the booster dose has been possible three months after the last injection.
