The apple brand is known to love novelty. And for that, it does not hesitate to declare “obsolete” certain products, such as the MacBook for example.

Therefore, the brand will no longer perform hardware repairs on it.

The 12-inch MacBook goes by the wayside

As you may know, at Apple, an “old product” is a product that has not been produced for more than five years. After seven years, Apple no longer supports certain products, which then become technologically “obsolete” for the American giant.

At the end of this month of June, it will be the turn of a certain 12″ MacBook to join the list of so-called obsolete products. Launched in March 2015, the latter saw its marketing halted in April 2016, to make way for a second generation, so there is a tad more than 7 years old today.

Your MacBook will soon be “obsolete”, what does that change?

According MacRumors, the 12-inch MacBook will officially become “obsolete” on June 30. At the time, this mini-laptop was equipped with a 12-inch screen, and powered by an Intel Core M Dual Core chip, coupled with 8 GB of RAM, not to mention a 256 or 512 GB SSD.

At the end of the month, the small 12-inch MacBook will therefore no longer be supported in Apple Stores and Apple Authorized Service Providers. So hurry up if you want to repair the little computer that cost you (at least) €1,449 eight years ago.

Obviously, despite its imminent arrival in the section of so-called “obsolete” products, the operation of your 12-inch MacBook will not be altered in any way on June 30.

Recently, Google announced the end of support for another product dating back almost ten years, namely the very first Chromecast, whose performance will degrade over time.
