In Germany, 22,231 new infections with the corona virus were registered within one day. As the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) announced on Wednesday morning, citing information from the health authorities, 312 further deaths in connection with the corona virus were reported. The nationwide seven-day incidence fell to 160.6. On Tuesday it was given as 167.6.
On Wednesday last week, the RKI reported 24,884 new infections, 2653 more than this Wednesday, and 331 deaths. The seven-day incidence was also around 160 a week ago.
The seven-day incidence is a key benchmark for tightening or relaxing corona requirements. It indicates the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within a week. According to the nationwide Corona emergency brake, which has been in force since Saturday, cities and districts in which the incidence value is 165 or higher on three consecutive days must close their schools.
According to the RKI, the total number of corona cases recorded in Germany since the beginning of the pandemic is now 3,332,532. The total number of registered deaths rose to 82,280. The RKI put the number of those recovered from Covid 19 disease at around 2.95 million on Wednesday.
