The social network changed its name and bid farewell to the blue bird with some enthusiasm. Perhaps a little too much, because the company did not necessarily do things in the rules, in haste. Which, of course, caused him some problems, once again.

Elon Musk is a man like the others, he too has problems with building permits with his municipality.

When law enforcement gets involved…

The new Twitter logo does not appeal to everyone, far from it. Beyond the aesthetic question, the context does not necessarily help to appreciate it. Indeed, each of Elon Musk’s announcements and his company’s decisions seem more and more lunar, to the point of causing annoyance. While the social network seems more shaky than ever, its owner is carrying out major transformations that are gradually moving it away from its roots. The South African billionaire has a plan, we are starting to see where he wants to go, but it is difficult to determine whether it is a good or a bad idea.

In addition, the farewell to the blue bird, present since the beginnings of the social network, was not done in serenity. As soon as Twitter’s new name was revealed, Elon Musk offered to blow torch the logos installed on the company’s premises. Above all, the dismantling of the sign present at the headquarters of the latter, in San Francisco, was carried out without a permit and without respecting the safety rules. Thus forcing the police to intervene and order the immediate halt to the operation, leaving a ” er » remain on the building for some time.

Since his arrival, the South African billionaire has been deconstructing Twitter without much finesse. Massive dismissals, reinstatement of banned accounts, distancing from the microblogging system… Besides the fact that everyone hates change on the internet, this X symbolizes the situation in which the social network finds itself. And, it is precisely for this reason that it is so much criticized on the platform.

The response to all of this was quick, and you’ve probably seen the news by now:

A shining beacon to illuminate San Francisco

Except that here, barely a few days after its installation, the sign had to be removed. Once again, the rules imposed by the municipality were not respected and the permits necessary for the erection of this enormous X were not requested. Patrick Hannan, director of communications for the DBI (the San Francisco Department of Building Inspection) told Gizmodo that the agency had received several complaints. 24, in total, “ about unauthorized structure, including concerns about structural safety and lighting “.

Worse still, the company is said to have twice prevented DBI inspectors from accessing the roof of the building to examine the facility, defined as ” a temporary sign for an event by X.com. As a result, the city of San Francisco is currently opening a complaint and has just launched an investigation. One more problem to add to the absolutely gigantic pile of files that must decorate the office of Linda Yaccarino, CEO of the social network.

Finally, this is just another news item that reminds us of the disturbing extravagance of Elon Musk. Indeed, while he turned out to be a very capable businessman, his media outings contrast with the importance of his businesses. As Tesla takes its place at the table of automakers to be reckoned with, SpaceX has the trust (for now) of NASA to participate in its new lunar adventure. It only remains to hope that the events around X.com are, at best, a well-crafted plan on the part of the South African billionaire, and at worst, a midlife crisis.
