Ashley Graham: In an interview about comfortable clothes and strong women

Ashley Graham is a true superstar of the fashion business and has worked with the most well-known magazines in the industry. Her curves, which deviate from the long-established model size standard, have been attracting attention since her breakthrough appearance on the cover of Sports Illustrated. Confident and super sexy – hardly anyone understands body positivity as well as Ashley Graham. She spoke to us in Milan about how much comfortable clothes can contribute.

Calzedonia stands for its tights. What makes good tights for you?

If they go over the leg without any problems, no runs or cuts. I don’t like it when tights suddenly give you a stomach because everything gets squashed. Even now nothing is bothering me and that feels really good.

You already indicate: Sexyness also has a lot to do with well-being. What does sexy mean to you personally?

For me, sexiness means above all self-confidence. It’s about being clear about who you are. If someone feels comfortable and radiates that, that’s super attractive. Special clothes or perfect hair don’t matter. Therefore, for me, sex appeal has less to do with superficial appearance and physical features and more to do with an attitude to life and charisma.

So do you feel sexy in a good pair of tights?

One word is enough: definitely.

What’s your favorite way to show off your legs?

As you can see from my dress today (Ed. Ashley Graham is wearing a short mesh dress), the shorter the dress, the better.

But we all have days when your clothes don’t fit the way you want them to or your self-confidence is a little lacking. How do you deal with these situations?

Ladies, you are not alone. We all have those moments when we don’t feel so confident and that’s totally okay. I try to go into my morning prayers and affirmations every day and give myself something nice to say. This is then reflected in your own self-perception and changes the whole day.

Which item of clothing will have a place in your wardrobe in the next 10 years?

Any type of blazer, because a blazer is simply timeless and goes with everything. And also trench coats – over the last few years I’ve invested in good and timeless coats that I can wear forever and definitely will. And ballerinas, I love ballerinas right now. Comfortable pieces go above and beyond and have the potential to stay in your wardrobe forever; you can always rely on them.

While we’re on the topic of being able to rely on something. What is the best thing in your life right now?

The best thing in my life is definitely my family. I have three little boys and an amazing husband. I would really say my life is really great at the moment and I’m very happy.

From the outside it seems as if you manage to balance your family and professional life quite easily – which is why the media often label you as a “strong woman”. What makes a woman “strong” for you?

For me, a strong woman is a woman who is completely herself. A woman who knows who she is and what she wants and never completely loses this knowledge, even on bad days. On the bad days, life is just okay and on the good days she can really celebrate herself and be proud of herself.
